Please note: WrapiD provides training, onboarding and placement support. Many placements are on third party AI training platforms, where contributors work as independent, self employed contractors with the platform. Some projects come to us directly from clients and are delivered by independent contractors working with WrapiD. Work is not guaranteed, and we explain how you would be engaged before you start. We do not publish pay figures because pay depends on the platform, the project and the quality of your work.

The work

What AI training contributors actually do

Modern AI is only as good as the human judgment used to train it. Tasks vary by platform and project, but most fall into five groups.

  • Comparing responses

Judge which of two or more AI answers is better against specific criteria.

  • Rating quality

Score a single response on accuracy, helpfulness, tone or safety.

  • Writing prompts and answers

Create original questions, instructions and model answers.

  • Spotting errors

Find factual mistakes, broken reasoning or ignored instructions.

  • Annotation and tagging

Apply a defined set of labels to content, exactly as the guidelines say.

Two tracks

Generalist and specialist work

AI models need everyday judgment and deep expertise. We train and place both, and match each person to the projects where they are strongest.

Generalist

Everyday AI training

No specialist knowledge required. You help models become clearer, safer and more useful in everyday tasks.

  • Comparing and rating AI responses
  • Writing prompts and model answers
  • Annotation, tagging and error spotting
  • Strong written English and attention to detail
Specialist

Expert level projects

Subject experts review and create material that needs real depth. We place specialists where their expertise counts most.

Software engineering and codeMathematics and statisticsScience and engineeringMedicine and healthcareLaw and complianceFinance and economicsLanguages and linguisticsTechnical and creative writing
  • A relevant degree, professional qualification or substantial experiencePlatforms usually verify this and may add a subject assessment.
  • Expert reasoning, explained clearly and precisely
  • The same standards of consistency and guideline following

Staying in good standing

Doing well is about consistency

The contributors who last are the ones who treat quality seriously from the very first task. This is the heart of what our training covers.

Quality is checked continuously

Platforms monitor work through spot checks, agreement with expected answers and reviews of your written reasoning. It is ongoing, not just during onboarding.

Patterns matter more than slips

One-off mistakes are normal. Consistently low agreement after feedback, vague or reused justifications and rushing are what put access at risk.

Honesty is non negotiable

Never fabricate responses, share confidential project material or try to game quality checks. These are treated as serious problems straight away.

Build steady habits

Re-read guidelines regularly, pace yourself, act on feedback and ask when something is unclear instead of guessing.

Platform matching

The right platform for your skills

There is no single best platform. Outlier and Scale AI are two examples, and we work with a wider range. Which are open to new contributors changes over time.

We look at your strengths, your subject knowledge and your availability, then match you to the projects where your skills are best rewarded. If a platform is not the right fit, we look at others.

Your skills

Writing, analysis, subject knowledge and attention to detail.

Your availability

The hours you can reliably give each week.

Open projects

Which platforms and projects are recruiting right now.

Your account

You own and control it. We guide you through setup.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Cannot find your answer? Ask Wrapid Answer in the chat, or email recruitment@wrapidsolutions.co.uk.

Is this a job or employment?

It depends on the opportunity. WrapiD provides training, onboarding and placement support. Many placements are on third party AI training platforms, where contributors work as independent, self employed contractors with the platform. Some projects come to WrapiD directly from clients, and in those cases contributors may work with us as independent contractors. We explain how you would be engaged before you start, and work is not guaranteed.

What does an AI training contributor actually do?

You review, rate, write and label material that helps AI models learn. Typical tasks include comparing AI responses against clear guidelines, writing high quality answers, and annotating data. Tasks vary by platform and project.

Do I need technical or AI experience?

No technical background is needed. Strong written English, attention to detail and a willingness to follow guidelines carefully matter most. Our free crash course explains the work before you start.

Do you place specialists as well as generalists?

Yes. We train and place both. Specialists are subject experts, for example in coding, mathematics, science, medicine, law, finance or languages, who work on expert level projects. Tell us about your background when you apply and we will look for projects that fit.

Do I need a degree?

Not for generalist work. For specialist projects, platforms usually look for a relevant qualification or substantial professional experience, and may add a subject assessment.

Am I too old, or too experienced?

No. There is no upper age limit. You must be 18 or over, and the work suits students and early career professionals as well as experienced professionals, career changers, people returning to work and retirees. Clear written English, attention to detail and following guidelines carefully are what matter.

How many hours a week is it?

Most contributors work around 3 to 5 hours a week, flexibly, remotely and from their own laptop.

Which platforms do you work with?

Outlier and Scale AI are two examples, and we work with a wider range of AI training platforms. We match you to the platform and projects that suit your skills and availability. Which platforms are open to new contributors changes over time.

How much will I earn?

Pay is set by each platform and depends on the project and the quality of your work, so we do not publish figures on this website. Our recruitment team can talk you through it at recruitment@wrapidsolutions.co.uk.

How does the application process work?

You complete our application form with your CV. Our team reviews it, and shortlisted candidates are invited to an onboarding interview. You then complete our training and we match you to a platform. See the full steps.

How will I hear back after I apply?

By email, so please use an address you check often, and look in your spam folder too. Shortlisted candidates are invited to book an onboarding interview.

What happens in the onboarding interview?

It is a video call with one of our onboarders, usually around an hour. We walk you through the work, answer your questions and check your set up, which may include sharing your screen. Please use a laptop with a camera and microphone in a quiet space.

Will I need to verify my identity?

Most AI training platforms verify identity before you can start tasks, often through a third party service. Have valid photo ID ready and always use your real details. Never try to work around a verification step, because it can get your account removed.

Who owns my platform account?

You do. You sign up for and control your own platform account. WrapiD guides you through setup, training and the standards the platforms expect.

What if I do not pass a platform's screening?

Platform screenings can be demanding, and not everyone passes first time. Where we can, we look at other projects that fit your skills. Our crash course also covers assessments and how to prepare for them.

Can I apply from outside the UK?

At the moment we are recruiting contributors who have the legal right to work in the UK. If that changes, we will say so here.

Are you affiliated with Outlier, Scale AI or other platforms?

No. WrapiD Solutions is an independent company. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, any AI training platform, and platform names belong to their respective owners.

I run an AI data company. Can you supply contributors?

Yes. We supply well vetted, pre-qualified generalist and specialist contributors with track ratings. See our page for AI data companies.

How is my personal data handled?

We use your details to process your application and to support you as a contributor. You can read exactly how in our privacy policy.
